Welcome to Hotel 2013: Have a great holiday

DSCN0785It was a rough flight wasn’t it? The main thing is that we are here now. A few people spent most of the evening in the toilet which was a shame because there were some lovely views. We landed in darkness and the journey from the airport is never the best way to judge a place.

Now I know we didn’t all want to come somewhere different this year. Some some of us like to do the same thing year after year – its comfortable to do the same things and visit familiar places. But we need a change – we’ve had a rough couple of years and we really could do with this holiday… anyway we’re here now so you may as well make the most of it.

First things first – the weather looks OK -much better than the place we went last year. The forecast says there could be some nasty moments ahead but generally things are improving. I don’t think its going to be good enough to lie by the pool but it’s certainly “t-shirt weather”. It’s what you make of it though isn’t it? As long as you’ve packed the right clothes you’ll be fine.

I always wake up early so I’ve had a chance to look around the place and it seems nice. There was a bit of unruly behaviour as we arrived but I think that was just high spirits. Once the staff have given it a good cleanup you won’t know the difference. And it’s certainly clean. It looks like the place has only just been finished in time – it did look idyllic in the brochure (in a too good to be true way). The good news is that all the facilities are up and running and so the only problem will be if any other inconsiderate guests break them.

The staff seem friendly. On arrival everyone had a big smile on their face which is encouraging. I suppose they do that with all the new guests. If everyone behaves themselves they’ll carry on like that but it’s hard to carry on smiling when you have one or two abusive or antisocial guests I suppose.

There’s plenty to do here. That’s the nice thing about coming somewhere different and where nobody really knows you. You can try new things, eat different food, visit new places. It would be a shame not to experiment while we are here. I’m going to book us all into excursions while we are full of good intentions because if I leave it too late none of us will be bothered.

I’m not too sure about the people in the rooms either side. I’ve not heard or seen anything but…on one side they’re foreign and on the other they’ve got, wait for it, small children. They’re bound to be noisy/smelly/untidy but for now I might just give them the benefit of the doubt and try to get to know them a little better.

There’s not a lot else to say –  the sun is shining outside and its day one of our adventure holiday – I’d better go. Kind regards from Hotel 2013. I really do wish you were here.
