Grants available to make the Peak District more cycle friendly

A new grant scheme has been launched to help make the Peak District National Park and surrounding area more welcoming for cyclists.

The Peak District National Park Authority is running the scheme to make it easier and more enjoyable for people to explore the area by bicycle and benefit the local economy.

Local businesses, parish councils and community groups can now apply for financial help to improve facilities, equipment and services for cyclists.

Grants of up to £10,000 are available for improvements such as secure overnight cycle parking, bike locks at cafes, cycle racks at destinations, inner tube vending machines, street bike-tyre pumps, and even cycle friendly transport.

The fund could be also used by accommodation providers to meet VisitEngland’sCyclists Welcome’ standard or to create cycle routes that link up refreshment stops and other local businesses and attractions.
