Derbyshire – they have hills

Love seeing artists at work and their thought process. Thank you


I have just got back from a couple of days in Derbyshire.  It was a challenge to paint some hills and think about compostion without having that distant horizon that you get in East Anglia.  I have posted the “un-touched” images below.  The first things that I notice is that some of the trees are at awkward angles/positions to the edges of the pictures so they will need a tweak over the weekend.

Image First one of the day – not sure about the tree growing out the side of the frame. You can’t see the sheep behind me.

Image Pleased with the colours on this one although they look a bit “jumpy” in the photo. The path was busy with walkers – many knew St Ives – not the one in Cornwall.

Image Pleased with the trees but need to sort out the foreground. Last one of the day!
